Greenery: Fresh-cut asparagus foliage
Variety: Asparagus Densiflorus Cwebe
Color: Green
Stem Length: 40 cm (16 in)
Sold As: 50-stem bunches

Asparagus Densiflorus Cwebe

Cwebe is the densiflorus grown for colour rather than shape: new growth comes in coppery bronze and fades to green as it hardens, so a bunch arrives with warm tips over dark foliage instead of a single flat green. It is the only asparagus here that brings a second colour with it, and the reason to reach for it is autumn and terracotta palettes where plain green reads cold. Asparagus ferns aren't ferns at all — they're in the asparagus family, which is why they carry fine needle-like foliage on a woody stem instead of a frond. Two things follow from that and they matter more than anything else on this page: asparagus drops its needles when it runs short of water rather than wilting first as a warning, and it is ethylene sensitive, so ripening fruit or dying flowers in the same cooler will strip a bunch bare. PetalDriven ships greenery farm-direct and overnight anywhere in the US with free shipping, at wholesale prices with no tax ID required.

Shipping Info

  • Free US shipping on every order.
  • Ships FedEx Priority Overnight for next-day delivery.
  • Delivery is available Tuesday through Friday.
  • Order to arrive two days before you need it. Greenery wants a day in water to drink and settle before it goes into a design, and a Friday arrival leaves no working day to sort out a problem before a weekend event.
  • Arrives boxed and unarranged, with no signature required. Unpack the box flat and lift stems out individually rather than pulling a bunch by the tops.

Care and Processing Instructions

  1. Unbox and get the stems into water the same day. Cut about an inch off each stem with a clean, sharp blade and give it a minimum of two hours to drink before you arrange.
  2. Watch for needle drop, not wilting. Asparagus doesn't flag a water shortage by going limp the way leafy greenery does — it holds its shape and drops its needles instead. By the time you see shedding the stem has already been dry. Premature needle fall is almost always water stress.
  3. Plain water, not flower food. This is the one place fern and asparagus care goes against the usual advice. University of California postharvest guidance notes that preservative solutions aggravate premature leaf yellowing in asparagus fern, and trade processing instructions for maidenhair call for plain water only. If the greenery is going into a mixed arrangement, use flower food for the flowers' sake — but condition the greens on their own in clean plain water first.
  4. Keep it away from fruit and from dying flowers. Ferns and asparagus are ethylene sensitive, and ethylene makes them shed rather than wilt. A bowl of fruit in the workroom, or a bucket of blown flowers in the same cooler, will strip a bunch over a couple of days.
  5. Store cold. 36 to 41°F is the right range, in water, with good airflow around the bunches.
  6. Strip anything that would sit below the waterline, and keep the bucket clean. Submerged foliage rots and fouls the water for the whole bucket.
  7. Handle it gently and lift stems out individually. Fine asparagus foliage tangles between stems, and pulling a bunch by the tops shreds it.
  8. Keep it out of direct sun and away from heat vents and draughts. Sun scorches thin foliage faster than it fades it.
  9. Some varieties carry small hooked thorns along the stem — Sprengeri especially. Worth knowing before you run a hand down one.

100% Satisfaction Guarantee

Every greenery order is backed by PetalDriven's 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If your stems arrive damaged or in poor condition, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos and your order number, and we'll make it right with a refund or exchange.

Frond and needle length vary from stem to stem within a bunch, and some needle drop in transit is normal for asparagus. Neither is a defect. Loss caused by leaving the stems out of water, or by storing them next to fruit or dying flowers, is not covered.

Email info@petaldriven.com or call 1-888-738-2529. To qualify, follow the care instructions above. Claims submitted without photos or after the 48-hour window can't be accepted. See our full refund policy.

Your flowers will arrive in a floral box, wrapped up in a protective paper or plastic sleeve. Once you open the box:

  • First unwrap the flowers and give them some room to breathe. They’ve just made a long trip so don’t worry if they look like they’re a little sleepy- just think of how you would feel after getting off an international flight!
  • Have a bucket or vase with a few inches of water ready, and remove any foliage on the stems that might fall below the water line.
  • The next step is to cut the stems with floral shears or a sharp knife about 1 inch from the bottoms. It’s always best to cut them at an angle, so that the flowers have even more space to drink from- water is their best friend!
  • Then, simply place them in the water, and keep them indoors in a cool, dry place away from any heaters, air conditioning drafts, or direct sunlight and you’re ready to go!
  • We recommend allowing the flowers to hydrate for at least 4-6 hours before starting to work with them, but the more time the better.
  • Typically we recommend that our customers have their flowers arrive a few days prior to their event in order to give them the opportunity to hydrate and start to open so they can look perfect for showtime!

Your roses will arrive in a floral box, wrapped up in a protective cardboard or paper sleeve. Once you open the box:

  • For roses, we recommend keeping them in their cardboard during the first phase of hydration.
  • We recommend allowing the flowers to hydrate for at least 6-24 hours before removing the cardboard to work with them, but the more time the better.
  • Once they are removed from the packaging, gently remove any excess foliage, and begin to carefully peel off the outer "guard" petals of the roses, which can be identified by a thicker petal and possibly some green color toward the base of the petal.
  • Typically we recommend that our customers have their flowers arrive a few days prior to their event in order to give them the opportunity to hydrate and start to open so they can look perfect for showtime!

Succulents are surprisingly easy and fun to care for and propogate!

Your succulents will arrive in a floral box, wrapped with protective paper or bubble wrap.

For use as a rooted plant:

  • If you would like for your succulents to root, once removed from the box, place your succulents directly on any natural surface, such as soil, rocks, wood, moss, or just about anything else!
  • Next, give them a few spritzes of water from a spray bottle 2-3 times per week.
  • Within about a week or so, you will start to see roots beginning to poke out of the bottom of the succulent
  • Take a moment and congratulate yourself on becoming an official succulent grower!

If you are using your succulents in a floral design or bouquet, we recommend the pick method:

  • Turn your succulent upside down so that you can see the round base at the bottom
  • Take a sharp pointed pick like a bamboo skewer (or even a toothpick for smaller succulents) and line it up with the circular base at the bottom of the succulent
  • Applying some pressure, start twisting the pick into the base of the succulent so that you pierce the bottom and insert the pick firmly into the base of the succulent
  • Now that you've got your "succulent in a stick", you can insert it into any bouquet or floral design for a gorgeous desert chic look

Your greens will arrive in a floral box, and may be wrapped up in a protective paper or plastic sleeve. Once you open the box:

  • First unwrap the greens and give them some room to breathe.
It’s always best to cut them at an angle, so that the greens have even more space to drink from- water is their best friend!
  • Then, simply place them in the water, and keep them indoors in a cool, dry place away from any heaters, air conditioning drafts, or direct sunlight and you’re ready to go! We recommend allowing the greens to hydrate for at least 4-6 hours before starting to work with them, but the more time the better.
  • We typically recommend ordering your greens to arrive 2-3 days before your event, although since greens typically have a longer shelf life than flowers (7-14 days), you can also order them to be delivered earlier with no worries.

Your Dried Flowers will arrive ready to use. Please note that dried flowers can be extremely delicate and it is completely normal for some shedding to occur during shipment. Upon receiving your flowers please:

  • Do not place in water.
  • Handle with care.
  • Keep flowers out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.
