Flower: Ranunculus
Variety: Butterfly Ariadne
Color: Light blush pink
Stem Length: 50 cm (20 in)
Stems per Bunch: 40-stem bunches

Butterfly Ariadne

Butterfly Ariadne is a Butterfly ranunculus, a Japanese-bred series from AYA Engei that looks nothing like the classic densely doubled ranunculus. Sold in 40-stem bunches on 50 cm stems, each stem branches into several open-faced blooms with a silky, almost translucent sheen rather than carrying one packed head. Buds that arrive closed keep opening in the vase over several days, which is why Butterfly types hold 7 to 10 days and why a single stem gives airy, wildflower movement you can't get from a standard ranunculus. PetalDriven ships ranunculus farm-direct and overnight anywhere in the US with free shipping, unarranged and ready to process, at wholesale prices with no tax ID required.

Shipping Info

  • Free US shipping on every order.
  • Ships FedEx Priority Overnight for next-day delivery.
  • Pick your delivery date on the calendar when you add ranunculus to your cart. The calendar shows the next available date.
  • Delivery is available Tuesday through Friday. We recommend Tuesday–Thursday, since a Friday arrival leaves no working day to sort out a problem before a weekend event.
  • Schedule delivery so the ranunculus arrive 1–2 days before your event. They ship in tight bud and open quickly once they're in water and out of the cold.
  • Ranunculus arrive boxed and unarranged, with no signature required. The stems are hollow and soft, so plan to have someone there to get them into water on arrival.

Care and Processing Instructions

  1. Unbox as soon as they arrive. Ranunculus travel in tight bud and look unimpressive in the box; that's what you want, because it means you get the full bloom life.
  2. Fill a clean vase or bucket with only 2–3 inches of water. Ranunculus stems are hollow and rot in deep water.
  3. Strip any foliage that would sit below the water line.
  4. Cut about 1 inch off each stem at an angle with a sharp knife or shears. Don't crush the stems.
  5. Change the water and recut every day. Hollow stems foul water faster than any other flower you'll handle, and dirty water is what kills them early.
  6. Keep them cool to hold them closed, or bring them into a warm room to open them fast. Ranunculus respond to temperature within hours, which makes them easy to time to an event.
  7. Keep them away from ripening fruit. Ranunculus are ethylene sensitive and a fruit bowl on the same counter will shorten their life.
  8. Expect movement. The stems keep growing and bend toward light, so an arrangement will shift shape over a day or two. Most designers treat that as the point of the flower.

100% Satisfaction Guarantee

Every ranunculus order is backed by PetalDriven's 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If your flowers arrive damaged or in poor condition, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos of the flowers and your order number, and we'll make it right with a refund or exchange.

Ranunculus arrive in tight bud by design. Closed, green-looking buds are not a defect and will open within a day or two in water.

Email info@petaldriven.com or call 1-888-738-2529. To qualify, get your flowers into water as soon as they arrive and follow the care instructions above. Claims submitted without photos or after the 48-hour window can't be accepted, and natural variation in color, bloom size isn't considered damage. See our full refund policy.

Your flowers will arrive in a floral box, wrapped up in a protective paper or plastic sleeve. Once you open the box:

  • First unwrap the flowers and give them some room to breathe. They’ve just made a long trip so don’t worry if they look like they’re a little sleepy- just think of how you would feel after getting off an international flight!
  • Have a bucket or vase with a few inches of water ready, and remove any foliage on the stems that might fall below the water line.
  • The next step is to cut the stems with floral shears or a sharp knife about 1 inch from the bottoms. It’s always best to cut them at an angle, so that the flowers have even more space to drink from- water is their best friend!
  • Then, simply place them in the water, and keep them indoors in a cool, dry place away from any heaters, air conditioning drafts, or direct sunlight and you’re ready to go!
  • We recommend allowing the flowers to hydrate for at least 4-6 hours before starting to work with them, but the more time the better.
  • Typically we recommend that our customers have their flowers arrive a few days prior to their event in order to give them the opportunity to hydrate and start to open so they can look perfect for showtime!

Your roses will arrive in a floral box, wrapped up in a protective cardboard or paper sleeve. Once you open the box:

  • For roses, we recommend keeping them in their cardboard during the first phase of hydration.
  • We recommend allowing the flowers to hydrate for at least 6-24 hours before removing the cardboard to work with them, but the more time the better.
  • Once they are removed from the packaging, gently remove any excess foliage, and begin to carefully peel off the outer "guard" petals of the roses, which can be identified by a thicker petal and possibly some green color toward the base of the petal.
  • Typically we recommend that our customers have their flowers arrive a few days prior to their event in order to give them the opportunity to hydrate and start to open so they can look perfect for showtime!

Succulents are surprisingly easy and fun to care for and propogate!

Your succulents will arrive in a floral box, wrapped with protective paper or bubble wrap.

For use as a rooted plant:

  • If you would like for your succulents to root, once removed from the box, place your succulents directly on any natural surface, such as soil, rocks, wood, moss, or just about anything else!
  • Next, give them a few spritzes of water from a spray bottle 2-3 times per week.
  • Within about a week or so, you will start to see roots beginning to poke out of the bottom of the succulent
  • Take a moment and congratulate yourself on becoming an official succulent grower!

If you are using your succulents in a floral design or bouquet, we recommend the pick method:

  • Turn your succulent upside down so that you can see the round base at the bottom
  • Take a sharp pointed pick like a bamboo skewer (or even a toothpick for smaller succulents) and line it up with the circular base at the bottom of the succulent
  • Applying some pressure, start twisting the pick into the base of the succulent so that you pierce the bottom and insert the pick firmly into the base of the succulent
  • Now that you've got your "succulent in a stick", you can insert it into any bouquet or floral design for a gorgeous desert chic look

Your greens will arrive in a floral box, and may be wrapped up in a protective paper or plastic sleeve. Once you open the box:

  • First unwrap the greens and give them some room to breathe.
It’s always best to cut them at an angle, so that the greens have even more space to drink from- water is their best friend!
  • Then, simply place them in the water, and keep them indoors in a cool, dry place away from any heaters, air conditioning drafts, or direct sunlight and you’re ready to go! We recommend allowing the greens to hydrate for at least 4-6 hours before starting to work with them, but the more time the better.
  • We typically recommend ordering your greens to arrive 2-3 days before your event, although since greens typically have a longer shelf life than flowers (7-14 days), you can also order them to be delivered earlier with no worries.

Your Dried Flowers will arrive ready to use. Please note that dried flowers can be extremely delicate and it is completely normal for some shedding to occur during shipment. Upon receiving your flowers please:

  • Do not place in water.
  • Handle with care.
  • Keep flowers out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.
