Flower: Kale (Brassica)
Variety: Crane King
Color: Pink centre with white and green outer leaves
Stem Length: 60 cm (24 in)
Stems per Bunch: 20, 40 or 80 stems

Crane King

Crane King is an ornamental kale with a pink centre ringed by white and green, sold in 20, 40 or 80 stems on 60 cm stems. The head is a rosette of ruffled leaves about 4 to 6 inches across on one thick stem, and the three colours sit in rings rather than blending, which is what makes it read as a flower from a distance. It arrives fully formed and holds 10 to 12 days. At $85 for 20 stems it's the cheapest kale in the range. PetalDriven ships kale farm-direct and overnight anywhere in the US with free shipping, unarranged and ready to process, at wholesale prices with no tax ID required.

Origin Imported farm-direct
Color Pink centre with white and green outer leaves

Fragrant No — but see the care notes below, since brassicas can turn the vase water sour if it isn't changed
Vase Life 10–12 days with proper care

Good For

  • Pink, blush, and mixed palettes
  • Autumn and winter weddings

  • Centerpieces and tablescapes

  • DIY wedding and event flowers

Shipping Info

  • Free US shipping on every order.
  • Ships FedEx Priority Overnight for next-day delivery.
  • Pick your delivery date on the calendar when you add kale to your cart. The calendar shows the next available date.
  • Delivery is available Tuesday through Friday. We recommend Tuesday–Thursday, since a Friday arrival leaves no working day to sort out a problem before a weekend event.
  • Kale arrives fully formed rather than in bud, so it doesn't need days to open. Schedule delivery 1–2 days before your event and it's ready to design with the same day it lands.
  • Kale arrives boxed and unarranged, with no signature required. It's a cool-weather crop with a thick stem and travels better than almost anything else you'll order.

Care and Processing Instructions

  1. Unbox as soon as it arrives and get the stems into water.
  2. Fill a clean bucket or vase with a few inches of cool water.
  3. Strip every leaf below the water line. This matters more with kale than with any other flower: submerged brassica leaves break down fast and turn the water sour.
  4. Cut about 1 inch off each stem at an angle. The stems are thick, so use a sharp knife rather than light shears.
  5. Change the water every 2 days. Kale is a brassica, and brassicas in stale water develop a cabbage smell. The flower itself is odourless; the water is what turns. Clean water and no submerged leaves, and it won't happen.
  6. Keep it indoors in a cool spot away from heaters, air conditioning drafts, and direct sunlight. Kale is a cool-weather crop and holds best below room temperature.
  7. Keep it away from ripening fruit, which shortens the life of most cut stems.
  8. No opening time needed. The head is already at full size on arrival and stays that way.

100% Satisfaction Guarantee

Every kale order is backed by PetalDriven's 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. If your stems arrive damaged or in poor condition, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos and your order number, and we'll make it right with a refund or exchange.

Email info@petaldriven.com or call 1-888-738-2529. To qualify, get your stems into water as soon as they arrive and follow the care instructions above. Claims submitted without photos or after the 48-hour window can't be accepted, and natural variation in colour or head size isn't considered damage. See our full refund policy.

Your flowers will arrive in a floral box, wrapped up in a protective paper or plastic sleeve. Once you open the box:

  • First unwrap the flowers and give them some room to breathe. They’ve just made a long trip so don’t worry if they look like they’re a little sleepy- just think of how you would feel after getting off an international flight!
  • Have a bucket or vase with a few inches of water ready, and remove any foliage on the stems that might fall below the water line.
  • The next step is to cut the stems with floral shears or a sharp knife about 1 inch from the bottoms. It’s always best to cut them at an angle, so that the flowers have even more space to drink from- water is their best friend!
  • Then, simply place them in the water, and keep them indoors in a cool, dry place away from any heaters, air conditioning drafts, or direct sunlight and you’re ready to go!
  • We recommend allowing the flowers to hydrate for at least 4-6 hours before starting to work with them, but the more time the better.
  • Typically we recommend that our customers have their flowers arrive a few days prior to their event in order to give them the opportunity to hydrate and start to open so they can look perfect for showtime!

Your roses will arrive in a floral box, wrapped up in a protective cardboard or paper sleeve. Once you open the box:

  • For roses, we recommend keeping them in their cardboard during the first phase of hydration.
  • We recommend allowing the flowers to hydrate for at least 6-24 hours before removing the cardboard to work with them, but the more time the better.
  • Once they are removed from the packaging, gently remove any excess foliage, and begin to carefully peel off the outer "guard" petals of the roses, which can be identified by a thicker petal and possibly some green color toward the base of the petal.
  • Typically we recommend that our customers have their flowers arrive a few days prior to their event in order to give them the opportunity to hydrate and start to open so they can look perfect for showtime!

Succulents are surprisingly easy and fun to care for and propogate!

Your succulents will arrive in a floral box, wrapped with protective paper or bubble wrap.

For use as a rooted plant:

  • If you would like for your succulents to root, once removed from the box, place your succulents directly on any natural surface, such as soil, rocks, wood, moss, or just about anything else!
  • Next, give them a few spritzes of water from a spray bottle 2-3 times per week.
  • Within about a week or so, you will start to see roots beginning to poke out of the bottom of the succulent
  • Take a moment and congratulate yourself on becoming an official succulent grower!

If you are using your succulents in a floral design or bouquet, we recommend the pick method:

  • Turn your succulent upside down so that you can see the round base at the bottom
  • Take a sharp pointed pick like a bamboo skewer (or even a toothpick for smaller succulents) and line it up with the circular base at the bottom of the succulent
  • Applying some pressure, start twisting the pick into the base of the succulent so that you pierce the bottom and insert the pick firmly into the base of the succulent
  • Now that you've got your "succulent in a stick", you can insert it into any bouquet or floral design for a gorgeous desert chic look

Your greens will arrive in a floral box, and may be wrapped up in a protective paper or plastic sleeve. Once you open the box:

  • First unwrap the greens and give them some room to breathe.
It’s always best to cut them at an angle, so that the greens have even more space to drink from- water is their best friend!
  • Then, simply place them in the water, and keep them indoors in a cool, dry place away from any heaters, air conditioning drafts, or direct sunlight and you’re ready to go! We recommend allowing the greens to hydrate for at least 4-6 hours before starting to work with them, but the more time the better.
  • We typically recommend ordering your greens to arrive 2-3 days before your event, although since greens typically have a longer shelf life than flowers (7-14 days), you can also order them to be delivered earlier with no worries.

Your Dried Flowers will arrive ready to use. Please note that dried flowers can be extremely delicate and it is completely normal for some shedding to occur during shipment. Upon receiving your flowers please:

  • Do not place in water.
  • Handle with care.
  • Keep flowers out of direct sunlight and away from moisture.
